Eric Geyer's official website for the Ohio House District 19 race is dedicated to serving the community. Being born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Eric knows how tough and awesome people in our communities are. From his long time families ties to farming, his education in public schools, and service to others as a pharmacist, he knows what it means to work with and help others. It's just how he is.
PRIORITIES
HEALTHCARE
I am passionate about improving healthcare access and affordability for all Ohioans. I will work to increase transparency in pricing, increase access and make healthcare more affordable. Ohio has some great healthcare resources and education centers, we need to make sure those professionals can practice at the top of their education and training.
Recent legislation, signed by President Trump, is a shining example of what I aim to enact as legislation in Ohio. While the signed legislation addresses Medicare, I would aim enact the same law but targeting transparency for all healthcare plans and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). This would allow people and businesses to know exactly what they are paying for, if it is fair and help reduce medication prices for all Ohioans. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has helped lead efforts in this area, saving tax payers hundreds of millions, and I will continue this from the legislative side.
Other areas of focus include implementing proven ways to drive down tax payer spending by reducing unnecessary emergency room visits.
ENERGY
I recognize that energy prices have increased over the past several years. This is why I support finding ways to increase energy production, while optimizing it's use and production. This doesn't mean burning more resources but providing incentives for businesses and individuals to reduce their use or make their own through renewable energy sources. Some examples are right here in Northeast Ohio that could provide a significant amount of low cost power to our grid. It's also important to push for increased efficiency with our current energy generators and adopting next generation methods of energy production.
EDUCATION
I understand the importance of quality education as a foundation for the future. I am dedicated to ensuring that every child has access to excellent educational opportunities. Our children are our future and need to be prepared for it.
ENVIRONMENT
I value the preservation of Ohio's natural resources and is dedicated to promoting sustainable environmental policies that protect the state's landscapes and wildlife. With kids of my own and a love for all things outdoors, I know we need to be able to pass our natural habitats on to our children. Whether it is hunting, hiking or just enjoying the outdoors, Ohioans should be able to enjoy our outdoors.
TAXES
I am a staunch believer that taxes should be kept as low as possible while providing the most benefit. Working to reform property taxes is a major focus of his while also ensuring public safety, schools and roadways are maintained.
ECONOMY
A firm commitment to helping foster a strong business community is key to who I am as a fiscal conservative. A strong economy, means good paying jobs and support for those who need it most. Working to support local businesses and job growth is a guidestone for his policies and decisions.
SAFE COMMUNITIES
I strongly support our first responders, as they have some of the most dangerous jobs imaginable. There is nothing we all deserve more than safe communities and the right to get help when and where we need it. Given the scrutiny they have been under in recent years, I want to make sure they have all the proper resources and training to be able to swiftly and appropriately respond to anything that arises.
